About Timothy Geithner

Mr. Geithner is Obama's choice for the job. He would need to be formally nominated and approved by Senate.

Mr. Geithner has worked with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in implementing the government's response to the financial crisis. He was central to the government-backed sale of Bear Stearns in March, the talks before the failure of Lehman Brothers in September, and the rescue of AIG. For some, that also may be grounds for criticism.

Geithner Confirmation Hearing Postponed - January 15, 2009 - Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus said the confirmation hearing for Timothy F.
