Message from Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan

I am excited to be working with you as your District 1 representative and I continue to work tirelessly on your behalf.  There is a lot going on in Miami-Dade County and I want you to be well-informed about everything that affects you.

To ensure you are knowledgeable, be sure to take advantage of the varied information resources available to you.  My website will give you the most-up-to date County information available. The District 1 newsletter will keep you connected and informed of the activities your community. Our new and improved district office provides access to a friendly and helpful staff as well as the County services you need.

This is an exciting era for District 1. You are a part of this history. I strongly believe we can work together and move District 1 to a higher level of success. However, our community will not succeed without your participation. Please know your input is valuable and I welcome your suggestions and thoughts. I look forward to hearing from you and representing you in the years to come.


Commissioner Jordan talks projects and district development with residents - District One residents filled the auditorium at Robert B. Ingram Elementary School in January to get updates on several district related projects, such as the North Corridor Metrorail Project and the Opa-locka Rehabilitation and Beautification programs. Commissioner Jordan assembled a contingent of County personnel from various departments to provide progress reports on several plans that affect communities in north Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners Installation Ceremony - The installation of Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro and Members of the Board of County Commissioners took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

Commission Vice Chairwoman Jordan spearheads Opa-locka development agreement to unanimous approval - Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chairwoman Barbara J. Jordan was ecstatic at Thursday’s unanimous approval of a lease agreement between the County and the Carrie Meek Foundation to develop more than 120 acres of property at the Opa-locka Executive Airport.
